Another solid week of work on this project. My word count below is super-inflated because most of those words are from a previous work that I’m taking apart. I’m about done ripping out and rewriting the useful stuff, so word counts will slow to a more human speed in the next couple of weeks. But boy, is that word count good for the soul. Makes it look like I’m flying!
This week I have:
1. Written new words and reworked some previously written scenes from a now dead project that I’m picking over for spare parts. See word count meter below. These are all part of the 1979 section.
2. Researched more about the dust bowl.
3. Listened to most of the major hit songs of 1979, for research.
4. Brainstormed on the 1936 and 1999 sections. Made some adjustments to characters and motivations.
5. Added new things to the outline for the 1979 section.
6. Brought a supporting character forward, pushed two other more to the background.
That’s all pretty good progress for another week. I will be at Con of the North this weekend, so I expect a major slow-down, especially since we failed to reserve a hotel room, so I won’t have anywhere quiet to retreat to when I want to work.
